In the Lyth Valley

The village pub of Witherslack

Tucked between Whitbarrow Scar and Yewbarrow, in the heart of the Lyth Valley, we’re the village local, a dining pub and a comfortable place to stay.

Damson country

A village pub with real community roots

The Lyth Valley is a quiet corner of the south Lake District, known for its orchards and especially its damson trees, which are a spectacle in blossom time. Witherslack sits in the valley, sandwiched between the limestone of Whitbarrow Scar and Yewbarrow, known locally as The Noddle.

The Derby Arms was bought from Punch Taverns by the Witherslack Community Land Trust, and local families run it to keep it at the heart of village life. Next door you’ll find the village Community Shop and Abi & Tom’s Garden Plants, a brilliant plant centre well worth a visit.

Fresh, seasonal produce from Cumbria and the farms and producers around us runs through the kitchen.
