Walking & cycling

Start from the front door

Great walking, running and cycling routes begin right outside the pub, with a limestone scar, quiet lanes and long views across the Lyth Valley.

Out and about

Between Whitbarrow Scar and Yewbarrow

Witherslack sits in the Lyth Valley, sandwiched between Whitbarrow Scar and Yewbarrow, known locally as The Noddle. That means you can lace up your boots or clip in your pedals and be out on the fells and lanes without needing the car. It’s a gentler, quieter side of the Lake District.

The coast of Morecambe Bay and the Arnside & Silverdale landscape are a short drive away, and Windermere is 13 miles north, so there’s plenty to fill a long weekend. We’re always happy to make suggestions, so ask when you arrive.

Afterwards, there’s a pint, a fire and a proper meal waiting, and six comfortable en-suite rooms if you’d like to stay.
