Grange, Cartmel and a quieter evening out

Grange-over-Sands is a lovely seaside town on the edge of Morecambe Bay, and Cartmel is famous for its priory, its racecourse and its sticky toffee pudding. When you want something a little quieter, with a fire in the grate and food made from Cumbrian produce, The Derby Arms in Witherslack is a short drive away.

We sit between Kendal and Grange-over-Sands, just inside the Lake District National Park. Locals come to us for Sunday lunch and a pint of something local. Visitors staying in the area come for dinner, and many make a night of it in one of our six en-suite rooms.

Race days and bank holiday weekends are busy right across the area, so if you’re planning a table or a room it’s worth booking ahead.
